Nature Precedings DOIs not recognized by NN?

When I enter the DOI of my Nature Precedings paper into doi.org it turns up fine, but when I try to add it to my publications here on NN, it isn’t recognized.
Feature or bug?
Try it: hdl:10101/npre.2007.905.1

Hi Bjorn,
I think that the problem might be a limitation of Nature Network not recognizing handles (rather than DOIs). On Precedings, we use Nature-based handles (hdl:...) for preprint manuscripts and DOIs (doi:...) for everything else. This is a requirement of Crossref. As far as I know, the DOIs for Precedings documents should not be treated any differently in Nature Network than DOIs for other documents.I don’t know whether Nature Network supports automatic import of information from Nature-based handles. If not, then we definitely should do so in the future!

That’s a really good point. We’ll look into supporting Handles in Nature Network.

I now tried to add the paper manyually. Interestingly, NN realized it was by Nature Precedings, deleted the link to the PDF file and now displays an empty link to doi.org.
I’ve posted the publication to this group so you can have a look.
Thanks for looking into this!Bjoern

Definitely a bug (and not a feature!) Thanks for letting us know about this. We’ll try to work with the Nature Network team to get this fixed.

A temporary workaround for this problem is to enter the url for the PDF when adding the page manually, rather than the url for the “document information” page . For your document, this would be:
http://precedings.nature.com/documents/905/version/1/files/npre2007905-1.pdf -
Edit to my post above:

Hmm, that’s what I initially did and it didn’t work – has something changed since yesterday?

Just tried it again and the URL still gets deleted.
