Interesting development…

The first UK University to introduce a semester system is again to lead the way by launching a new route to a doctorate this autumn. From September, PhD students at the University of Stirling will be able to submit a group of linked publications instead of an 80,000 dissertation.

    • Semester system is good.. but for PhD its not easy to set deadlines. In reality, we can’t fix any deadlines for publication, where quality does matter.

      In States semester system takes about 4-5 years to finish PhD, however in UK, 3 years straight PhD is really cool. Therefore, I still prefer PhD without semesters.
