Would you like to see Nature Network local hubs in Asian cities?

If you look in the Nature Network navigation bar, you’ll see that we have ‘local hubs’ for Boston and London where we list local science events, news and jobs information. We’re planning on launching many more in the future and are currently considering the options.
If you’d like to see new local hubs for Asian cities, countries or regions, there’s now a way to vote for this.
• Log in, head to your profile page and click ‘edit your profile’.
• At the top, click ‘change your location’.
• Enter the city or town in which you work. This will set your location.
• Nature Network will then suggest three potential ‘hubs’—regions (not necessarily cities) that may become full-fledged hubs like Boston and London once enough people from that area sign up. Click the one that you belong to.
If you don’t see an option you like, feel free to get in touch with me. We can add to or tweak the proposed hubs according to the wishes of users.

Hi Matt,
Thanks, I’ve waited for this feature :)
Can I somehow be assigned to more than one hub? In my case I’m working in the San Francisco Bay Area while keeping in touch with quite a few people in Tokyo and other cities.
Also let me know whatever I can do to help develop these hubs!

Thanks for the positive comment, Senkei.
You can only assign yourself to one hub at the moment. However, that would not stop you browsing and replying to any content on additional hubs.
We’d very much like to launch hubs in SF and Tokyo as soon as possible, but we need to see that there’s a demand. The best help you could be would be to persuade friends and colleagues in those cities to edit their profile to indicate they’re from one of these hub cities.
Once we decide to launch a hub, we’ll be looking for enthusiastic local scientists to blog about the local science scene and help run a local forum – kind of like acting as an ambassador for science in that region. If we go for an SF or Tokyo hub (and this is quite likely), I’ll be in touch.

Thanks Matt and Senkei for this.
I’m hoping Tokyo will be a hub so we can have socials just like those in London!
