RNA isolation from formaldehyde gels

I want to identify RNA that is specifically upregulated in a KO condition. I run formaldehyde gels for RNA analysis. Is there a way to isolate RNA from such gels and analyse them for downstream applications such as RT PCR…. Thanks a lot.

Hi Sanjay-
yes, theres a way. If I am not wrong one of my collegues was using a kit from Qiagen to purify RNA from this gel. May be you can find something in the company homepage.

Hello,
As Tiago said I think there is a kit that you can use…but I would advise you to save a bit of your initial RNA sample to perform an RT-PCR…and the rest you would run on the gel…I think you would be more successful this way.
Good luck
