Reply from Shushil Choubey

Its intriguing! I have been in the pharmaceutical industry here in India for 8 years now. There has been growh in the private sector with good renumeration. there are at least 20 major players, with many CRO into basic biological research and clinical research and drug development. I have had this question from my colleagues who are abroad, many are waiting to see a clearer pciture. The government sponsored institutes are still to catch up; it has the potential to provide huge oppertunity; but for some time to come they are unlikely to offer a decent renumeration.

But non-the-less it may be good to approach with a good CV and prior dialogue. It may be important to have several options and contacts on hand before deciding the plunge. This is true when you are in a senior position becasue oppertunities are still limited. At the start up level it may not be so difficult choice.
