Reply from Poltronieri Palmiro

Hi everybody,
I am at CNR, department of food productions, a huge assembling of scientists of different fields (plant molecular biologists, plant metabolites, microbes, and food products). My interest is the development and aplications of innovative tools, protein chips, studies on compound interactions, we label one protein with fluorescence and detect the binding unsing a scanner, for the aplication of antibodies in detection of targets (either for quality as also for safety purposes). Another label free method is based on SPR, and also AFM can be used. Since there are problems presently to find funding for projects and fellowships, I wish among the activities of this group will be to help youngs with news on grants and exchange of information
all the best
Palmiro

Reply from Jonata Giuliani

Hi all,

I’m Jonata fom Nature, SLBU team. I trained as a biologist and biochemist at Imperial College, London. I am very proud of this group so well done for setting it up!

If we get high usage on NNetworks from the Italian community, NPG would consider creating an Italian section like London and Boston local networks!!

So, spread the word.

Caio a tutti!

Reply from Kevin Brick

Hi all,

I’m Kevin Brick, an Irish PhD student currently in my final year at the Istituto Superiore di Sanitá (Italian Public Health Research Institute) in Rome. I work on bioinformatic approaches to studying the genome and proteome of the parasite which causes malaria.

I think that this forum is an opportunity for researchers within Italy to bypass traditional hierarchical barriers and candidly and constructively discuss issues which affect research in Italy. I would also like this forum to become a place to disseminate information about opportunities which may otherwise pass unknown to many.

Reply from Marco Boscolo

hi everyone,
I’m a science writer and communicator based in bologna. With some collegues I run a weekly show called pigreco party on the local radio station, radio città del capo, part of popolare network, and I’m freelancing a bit for some magazines.
But there’s another part of my job, which is as important as journalism (or maybe more, from a financial point af view), that is made of working with schools in several project of scientific education and working with institution for research project dissemination, media relations, communication products.
I’m staying in between the scientific community and the society, trying to keep them talk to each other.
I think that reflecting on this relationship, here and in any other occasion, is really important. And I like it too!

Reply from jojie cui

Hi…I’m just new to this site and I’d like to introduce myself! :)
My names jojie, im from sweden and im 22 years old.
I’m currently on my first term at the International Academy of Film and Television [filmschool.ph] .
I initially took journalism in college but got frustrated with sitting in class doing exercises after exercises.
I wanted to create something tangible and substantial. One Google search led me to IAFT and the rest is history. Now im in the process of editing my own film.
A film that I wrote, I directed, and produced. I’d like to meet people in this forum, make friends and share ideas on certain issues. I joined this forum because I’ll be moving soon in Italy, for me to have a wider view what’s the culture of Italy in general. Hope you’ll welcome me here.

Reply from Piero Visconti

I am an italian PhD candidate at the James Cook University, Townsville, Australia. I work on systematic conservation planning, a discipline of conservation biology that look at the different ways to set priorities for conservation. Given that we are facing an unprecedent decline in global biodiversity and we have to tackle it with limited funding and trading off between economy development and biodiversity benefit it has very well been described by one of his “fathers” Michael Soulè, as a crisis discipline.

I would like Nature Network Italy to be a window on the best that our country can offer to scientist worldwide. I believe that we have got very bright minds and a lot of potential to grow in several discipline and it would be good if this blog could be a promoter of italian scientific excellence.

Reply from Sergio Stagnaro

I am an italian retired (since 2000) General Practitioner, who has been researching since 1956 in the field of physical semeiotics. I am working since ever in Riva Trigoso (Riviera Ligure di Levante (Genoa). I have founded Biophysical Semeiotics, that in last November became Quantun Biophysical Semeiotics.
I aim to spread such as new physical semeiotics among physisicians around he world, because I think tha the END of Clinics parallels the END of Single Patient Based Medicine.
