Drs Fire and Mello with their impressive discovery of double stranded mediated gene silencing (Nature 1998) were awarded the nobel prize in medicine but did the nobel committe missed some of the worthy names for the prize? I personally wish Dr.David Baulcombe with out whose group’s seminal discoveries of small RNA and their role in plant defense awarded nobel prize along these two.But still discoveries of miRNA is not awarded nobel which will definately be among the toipcs of discussion for nobel prize.
