Today I had a look on India Science Report and find it really impressive.

You will be happy to know that India is country 50 million university graduates. Number of technical students pass every year is about 1/2 million and non-technical about 2½ million.

India also have 5600 newspapers, 3500 magazine in 21 different languages with combined readership of 120 million. wow!

Indian companies are also growing worldwide, like Tata bought Corus Steel for $12 billion this year. Taj Hotels purchased the Boston Ritz Carlton and many other stories.

India’s GDP is also on the top in the world, growing at 8.8% since last four years.

So, What do you think? In this senario, where Indian Science will be in next 20 years?

    • well 2o yrs is a huge time period..but still i don’t think there will be much improvement in general..except some particular institute or individual acheivements shooting up..but recently the interest & investment of private sector in this field is extremely encouraging..govt. n other non govt. institutions should pay more attention to providing quality education in affordable manner..& provide more funds in higher education.

    • hmmm.. i don’t think 20 years is too long.. I’ll be 46..lol ..

Nowdays many govt. labs/institutes are funded by Welcome Trust and NSF in India.. and more international grants are coming.. I think science funding would be greatly improved in next 20 years…

Good for my lab in Delhi ;-)
