By way of example more than anything, I’d like to kick this forum off with the following Nature news item that offers an interpretation of results that may or may not be present in the paper (I have not actually read the full paper) but are certainly offered in the news item by researchers.

How reasonable is this interpretation of the results presented?

As I commented you, 30% and 50% means a big difference talking about increased connections.
This kind of mistakes sometimes gives rise to
misinterpret the information (given in the abstract)
