History Of Science as Structured Data

Hi all,

I’m looking for a structured resource (text tab delimited, xml, rdf…, something that could be used by today in science history or Time Line Index) that would contain the main events of the history of science (person, date, place, picture…) . I’ve already found

freebase but I found it difficult to make some complex queries

dbpedia is also a nice resource but it only contains the information that was correctly formated within the articles of wikipedia

Thanks for your suggestions

Pierre

    • Don’t have an answer but am interested in what you’re planning!

Also, if you can mashup / improve the NPG timeline…

… I’ll buy you lunch next time you’re in London. ;)

    • Stupid links.

      The timeline is here .

    • Euan,
you may know that I’ve already played with the data from dbpedia to create a simple “history browser” called WikiStory.

What I’d like to do is to get a software which could generate (flash ? ppt slides ? I don’t know…) any history. e.g.: “Show me the History of the antibiotics, the History of the French geneticists, etc…”. I wish I could get something as beautiful as this
