Improving Immunohistochemistry meeting set to be another success

With over 90 delegates already registered, this year’s Improving Immunohistochemistry meeting is set to be another success. The meeting is being held on April 25th at the University of Westminster, London.

“This meeting is dedicated to the technique of immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridisation. Presentations by leaders in the field are focused on the technical aspects of IHC as well as the importance of IHC in the areas of drug discovery and diagnosis. Technical and scientific presentations are interspersed with the latest developments from the leading manufacturers of IHC products”. Chair – Dr Will Howat, Cambridge Research Institute, Cancer Research UK

Speakers include Dr James Pringle (University of Leicester, UK), Dr Jeremy Skepper (Technical Director Multi-Imaging Centre, Physiology Development and Neuroscience, University of Cambridge), Professor Carlos Caldas (Cancer Research UK, Cambridge Research Institute, UK), Andy Postoyalko (Covance Laboratories Ltd.), Dr Kerry Jackson (Astrazeneca UK), Professor Jon D. Laman (University Medical Center Rotterdam, The Netherlands) and James Mansfield (Biomedical Systems, CRI, Inc., USA)

    • The feedback for this meeting was extremely good and many speakers and delegates have emailed me after the event to say how good it was. The venue were also very friendly and helpful

      Everyone said on their feedback forms that they would come to this event again and we wil be running this again in london next April

      Suggestions for additional meetings (If anyone knows who might want to chair any of the meetings I would be happy to take these forward)

      -Beginners IHC
      -Image analysis for histological samples
      detecting humanised antibodies on human or monkey tissue
      -cross reactivity studies
      -progress in peptide research therapeutics

      About the chair and the meeting in general

      Comments as follows

      good time schedules , appropriate length of sessions (not too long)

      “perhaps a panel discussion would be possible to challenge the audience to participate more actively in the meeting?”

      The venue

      Everyone liked the venue and there were no comments about the lecture theatres being separate from the exhibitions

      “ at times could not hear chair as he did not use the mic”

      “someone wanted a loop system for hearing aids, we need to consider this at other venues”

      Exhibitions

      People liked the area where we had the exhibitions

      All the exhibitors forms were very good and they were all very happy

    • The next Improving Immunohistochemistry meeting is going to be held on Friday April 24 2009 at the Kennedy Lecture Theatre, UCL Institute of Child Health, London.

      It will be Chaired by Dr Will Howat (Cancer Research UK).
