Tessella specializes in the application of innovative software solutions to scientific, technical and engineering problems. We have over 25 years experience in working with a diverse set of clients in the scientific and engineering domain managing large and complex sets of information.
Over the years Tessella has developed an unparalleled expertise in providing digital preservation solutions. Since the early 1980s we have built and managed the worlds largest store of fusion data and, since 2000, we have been actively involved in the development of cutting edge digital preservation technologies. Tessella were the world’s first company to develop a National Digital Archive. Our solution was subsequently awarded the inaugural Pilgrim Trust Digital Preservation Award in 2004
We have provided digital preservation and electronic archiving technologies to the National Archives of the UK, Switzerland, Malaysia, the Netherlands and also at the UK British Library.
We are well connected to the digital preservation activites going on in Europe and the standards that are emerging globally.
Since 2004 we have developed a set of preservation toolsets including PRONOM and DROID as part of our continued work with the UK National Archives. PRONOM has since become recognized as a primary authoritative format registry, and is currently referenced by a large number of archival solutions. We are also a key partner in the European PLANETS consortium that is developing standards-based active preservation solutions.
In the USA Tessella’s American offices are engaged in the development of the ERA program for NARA. As a major partner on the program we bring a wealth of preservation expertise, unique insight and value-add to the prime contractor, Lockheed Martin.
Tessella is seeking to partner with lead organizations on the upcoming NSF DataNET program. With our combined experience in the scientific domain and our unrivalled digital archiving experience we feel we are well positioned to add significant value to Prime partners.
Please contact mark.evans@tessella.com if you would like to discuss Tessella’s expertise and potential opportunities on the DataNET program.
