Learning about drug-discovery and cancer research can be difficult. All the technical jargon and scattered information makes the learning even more complicated.

Some notable attempts have been made to educate lay people about the seemingly arcane process of drug discovery. This case study of Gleevec
is very interesting and educational. The tutorial’s interactive Flash animation format made the information even more organized and somehow – more concrete!

Gleevec is used to treat chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) and a number of other malignancies.

”This is a dramatic breakthrough in the treatment of CML. Someday, the specific targeting we’ve proven can work for CML will be used for other cancers. Behind every successful research project, there’s a dream of what might be. That inspiration is what sustains you through the years of hard work.”
