Welcome to Cambridge

The networks team at Nature suggested a create a group, so here it is – The Cambridge Science group. I must stress that it is in now way affiliated with the University or any other official body (yet), but everyone is free to join and make use of the group as they see fit (within reason). It would be nice to see this expand into a small network of like-minded individuals in and around Cambridge with an interest in sci, tech, eng, med (STEM) matters. Your ideas are most welcome, and there is always the option of real-life meetings if there is enough interest.

    • Great idea for a group. Just to clarify, you mean Cambridge UK, right? Maybe those of us in Cambridge USA should set up a rival group?! :)

    • Hi Corie

      Yep, the original Cambridge ;-)

    • Speaking of potential rivalries between the two Cambridges, here’s a commentary I’ve just published on Nature Network Boston by an MIT researcher who’s recently come back from Cambridge UK, where he was a Guggenheim fellow for 6 months. He writes about his thoughts on the differences in research culture between the two Cambridges.

With so many scientists from the two Cambridges here on the network, I thought this might provoke some discussion. Feel free to post comments on the story.

    • Hi Corie,

I too have worked in both Cambridges! I just moved to Cambridge UK from Vermont. I’d be interested to read your colleague’s perception of the differences, but can’t figure out the link. Can you explain where to go, or send the article to me at raobb@bas.ac.uk?

Just joined Nature Network, and am just starting to figure out what is here.

      Regards,
      Rachel
