Reply from Martin Fenner

This is a listing of a few websites of Berlin institutes that list their seminars:

Leibniz-Institut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP): Conferences and Workshops

Max-Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC): Seminars & Events

Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Genetics: Events

Max-Planck-Institut for Infection Biology: Seminars

Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Plant Physioloy: Seminars

Max-Planck-Institute for the History of Science: Events

Geoforschungszentrum Potsdam (GFZ): Events

Hahn-Meitner-Institute (HMI): Events

Deutsches Rheuma-Forschungszentrum (DRFZ): Seminars

The list doesn’t include the universities. The Robert Koch Institute also has a list (incomplete) of biomedical seminars in Berlin.

When collecting this information, you find out that David Baltimore gives two talks in Berlin, one today at the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology and one tomorrow (as announced by Phil).

At this rate, I can see Berlin becoming one of the next local hubs on NN. Keep it up!
Mz

Reply from Philipp Selenko

A very good point and we are actively thinking about how to best provide a comprehensive yet selective list of scientific talks/seminars in Berlin. The shear amount to high quality events that take place in Berlin each week poses a real dilemma as simply listing them will not have the desired effect. On the other hand, how do you ‘rank’ scientific seminars and how do you choose which ones to feature without introducing some sort of bias? We are working towards a solution to this problem. For now, we try not to miss any of the real big events.

The Nature office in Munich may receive Berlin event notifications: perhaps one of the staff there might post them in this forum?
