As I described in a blog post this is the place to suggest topics for SciFoo Lives On in Second Life. I suggest using a time close to 16:00 GMT, which convenient for Europe and the Americas.

I propose a session on Tools for Open Science on August 20, 2007 at 9:00 PDT, 12:00 EDT, 16:00 GMT

Sounds good. I wonder if we could benefit from a public wiki where we could list tools and even come to consensus at least on some basic definitions? A lot of the discussion at SciFoo it seemed to me could have benefitted from some consensus around concepts of scientific reward, quality, various aspects of peer review etc.

Richard,
Sure a wiki is a great idea – is there one on Nature Network? The SciFoo one is probably still password protected.
Or we could use the one on NodalPoint started to discuss many of these issues. -
No wiki here but I agree that the Nodalpoint one would be a good place to start…

The link to the NodalPoint wiki page on Open Science is here
-
Would it be OK if non-Sci-Foo people popped along to the discussion?
-
Of course! Anyone with an interest in Tools for Open Science is welcome to my Aug 17 session and as people propose other sessions I am sure they would welcome non SciFoo people.
Also for those with posters, no need to learn how to build in Second Life – I can handle that for now, as long as the number of requests is reasonable.
-
Must get set up with Second Life soon. Cool stuff happening there

It takes about 5-10 mins to set up. I have posted general instructions here:
http://drexelisland.wikispaces.com/instructionsBy the way the session on Tools for Open Science is Monday Aug 20, not Aug 17 as I mentioned a few posts back here.

Where (in Second Life) will the discussion be held? I’m guessing either in the sim named “Drexel” or the sim named “Second Nature” (NPG’s sim).
