We are not designed to fall sick. We are only combinations of atoms and atoms do not fall sick. Then what is sickness?
Illness is impairment of normal physiological function affecting part or all of an organism. This definition does not explain the root cause of illness as it does not explain why physiological functions of the cells are impaired. Medical science explains that different diseases have different etiology.
Our cells are designed to function through absorption of energy in a range only. If cells are subjected to excessive energy transfer or if cells suffer energy deprivation then their functions get impaired. Some cells can absorb very narrow range of energy and cannot tolerate energy imbalance beyond that range.
First thing that we need to understand is that all diseases occur at cellular level. This is the first step towards understanding diseases. With this change we can redefine illness as the im-pairment of the cellular functions. It is not a paradigm shift but it will lead to a paradigm shift in our understanding of illness. If we concentrate on physiological functions then we make the issue very complicated, however, if we treat the disease as mal-function of cells then it will be possible for us to minimize eti-ology of the diseases.
Why do Cells malfunction? Why do cells age? How can we prevent the diseases? How can we Cure diseases?
These questions can easily be answered through physics if we realize that we are only combinations of atoms.
All cells need all three types of energy to function at optimum level; some cells need one type of energy more than other type of energy. Etiology of all diseases can be narrowed down to energy imbalance. Now, we will examine why this energy im-balance is caused and how we can avoid cellular injury.
Pathogenesis of the diseases can be narrowed down to two categories:
We know that when energy gets trapped then it turns into mat-ter. This matter may take many different forms one of which is viruses and bacteria. However, this trapped energy may also get converted into matter that is not ‘live’ and can get depos-ited in the cells of the body. This matter results in thickening of the blood and narrowing of the arteries and veins. Or this trapped energy may get converted into water and cause edema or this trapped energy may get converted into viruses and bac-teria as happens in case of common cold.
Common cold is a mystery, or it would be more appropriate to say that it is a problem for medical science because it is not possible to develop a treatment or vaccine for common cold.
Fortunately, common cold is not a fatal disease but it is one of the most irritating of diseases.
The problem in developing a treatment plan for common cold is that number of viruses that can cause common cold is very high and therefore it is not possible to develop an effective an-tidote.
This is where medical science has gone wrong because common cold is not caused by viruses, viruses develop after the person catches cold. The underlying reason is entrapment of air energy. Entrapment of energy reduces further supplies to different cells. Poor circulation means that this entrapped energy gets converted into matter and since breathing is out of domain of immune system of the body, breathing continues but we keep on feeling the need for more fresh air. The continued flow means worsening of the situation and further reduction in the supplies to the body till a point reaches when supply matches the demand and the conversion of energy to matter stops and cold is cured. Viruses and bacteria develop after the energy gets converted into matter and therefore antibiotics are of no help in treating cold.
In all the cases in which entrapment of energy results in conversion to matter; matter that is developed absorbs and emits radiation. Cells are subjected to this radiation but since cells are not designed to absorb the radiation therefore normal functions of the cells are impaired.
Entrapment of energy also results in energy deprivation which impairs cell functions and in some cases can result in cell deaths also.
Thus, we can further narrow down cause of all diseases to just one cause – entrapment of energy.
So we can revise our definition of illness, “Illness is the im-pairment of cellular functions caused by entrapment of the energy.
Etiology of cellular injury can be basically classified in two broad categories: genetic causes and acquired causes.
In both the cases cells are subjected to either excessive energy transfer or energy deprivation. Hypoxia or Ischemia is caused by deficiency of oxygen which we get from the air.
Then we have several immunological disorders. Immunologi-cal disorders are also result of cellular dysfunction due to either energy deprivation or excessive energy transfer to cells.
These may be caused by imbalance of any of the three energies.
Haemodynamic disorders are caused by fluid imbalances in the body which are also result of energy imbalances. These disor-ders can also be caused by imbalance of any of the three ener-gies.
Inflammation is caused by excessive heat energy transfer to cells. Normally, edema is also caused by excessive heat trans-fer. This stops excessive energy to penetrate deeper and keeps the problem localized.
Neoplasia or tumors are caused by entrapment of any of three types of energy as entrapped energy gets converted to matter.
Infections are normally caused by viruses acquired by us through air, food, or water.
How does a virus or a bacterium affect the function that a cell performs? What do cells need to keep on performing their functions optimally?
Answer is simple that cells need optimum energy to keep on performing their functions at optimum level. Viruses and bac-teria consume energy that is meant for cells causing under nourishment thereby disturbing cellular functions.
Temperature indicates that energy is flowing out of the system. Higher the temperature, higher is the outflow of the energy. Temperature means presence of a foreign substance in the body because if energy is transferred to this foreign substance then it results in an increase in body temperature. Since cancer patients normally have temperature therefore it means that body does recognize cancerous tissues as foreign substance.
You will appreciate that it is not possible for me to discuss each disease separately but what I can do is suggest a mecha-nism that will keep the diseases away.
First and foremost requirement is to have a healthy life-style but I know that is not possible to have a healthy life-style these days. What we can do is reduce the abuse as much as we can. Body has enormous adaptability and can adjust in most conditions therefore with little care we can avoid any serious damage to our system.
We can make a huge difference in our health by eating nutritious food. This is bare minimum we need to do. Eating warm food is a must. I know that it is not possible to avoid refriger-ated stuff but bare minimum we can do is to heat it before eating. Drinking or eating black or dark colored objects can cause immediate drain of energy.
Biggest difference that we can make is by ensuring proper circulation of energy. Running and walking also result in outflow of energy from our body and therefore are not ideal way of ensuring circulation of energy but in the absence of breathing exercises walking can do the job. Breathing exercises are the only way of ensuring proper circulation of energy in the entire system and if we can combine breathing exercises with yoga then we can keep most of the diseases away.
Modern medicine has done wonders and we hope that it will continue to help us get rid of most diseases but that day is far off.
In any case, breathing exercises and yog have no side-effects and therefore can be a good supplement to modern medicine.
Body has a well developed system that takes care of eliminat-ing toxins and dealing with viruses and bacteria and thus we have to subject our system to extraordinary abuse to be able to fall sick. Somehow, we manage to fall sick.
Process of ageing can also easily be explained through physics, however, I think the post is already too long.

Hi princess
Thanks for your encouraging comments. I am working on understanding various aspects of nature and I guess there is a lot more left than we realize simply because we have made errors at basic level.
I strongly believe that one doesn’t need a big lab to be understand nature because nature manifests itself to us in all its glory and all we need to do to understand it is look around us and ask right questions. Experiments can only bring out certain information but the interpretation of information depends entirely on us. We need to go back to basics and see where we have gone wrong.
The illusions, dualities, and uncertainties cannot be part of nature that is so precise in its management of universe. I think wave-particle duality is the biggest absurdity of the physics and anyone who believes in wave-particle duality must think twice before thinking of himself as a scientist.
Having said that, I still believe that Bohr’s explanation of reality is closure to the truth than Einstein’s. Key to understanding universe rests in understanding light and to understand light we need to ask two simple questions – does anything exists (like light particle – photon) that has light as its inherent property and second does our understanding of the light has any place for darkness? As such it is established fact that light needs matter to manifest itself. We simply need to take this idea further.
Development stops when we start fooling ourselves. By accepting dualities and uncertainties as part of nature we are doing a great harm to posterity because we are making them see the world through the glasses that we permanently fix on their mind (seeing was never a function of eyes)
As far as my observations on medical science are concerned, I am often reminded that modern medical science has done wonders and I must acknowledge this simple fact. I never criticize modern medical science, in fact, I cannot afford to ignore it because my wife is a doctor; I only look everything, including our own body and including mysiticism from the persective of a physicist and believe that it is the responsibility of physics to explain everything that we observe in the nature. When it comes to science, we cannot be selective.
I am sorry for not able to give more information but I am neither a doctor nor am I an expert on brething exercises. I believe that human body is the biggest and most sophisticated lab that is available to us and I have studid anatomy, physiology, and pathology in my bid to understand human body but my little knowledge of physics failed to convince me of the place of diseases in our body. If human body can have cancer then so must an atom in my keyboard and sun and moon also must suffer from bouts of cold and cough. Since we do have diseases and since we are mere combination of atoms therefore it is obvious that imbalance of energy must be the cause and that means that everything in the universe must suffer from diseases but disease obviously is manifested in different ways in different objects like rust is a disease iron suffers from.
I simply intend to understand nature and I ask simple even seemingly fooligh questions and seek simple solutions. I do believe that God has lots of time to play dice simply because he has created a universe that operates on some simple fundamental laws and even GOd must observe these laws and therefore there cannot be any exceptions to these rules. Some of us may have complaints that dice falls at the wrong place and in wrong combinations but dice falls exactly where it must fall and exactly in the combination that must be produced.
It is better to accept that we have failed to understand nature rather than tell the posterity that dualities and uncertainties are inherent part of nature and hence it is not possible to understand nature.

Good Morning Sunil,
Like we say in Spanish, muy agradecido, muy agradecido, muy agradecido.
I have two questions for you.
1. What are wave particle duality?
2. What do you mean by seeing was never a function of eyes?
Please explain. Thanks a million.Princess

Hi Princess
I am sorry for delay in replying as I was busy preparing for an experiment.
I will reply second question first. Seeing is not a function of eyes in as much as a shutter does not perform the function of choosing what information must reach the film in a camera. Eyes allow all the information that is available to pass on to the brain and it is brain that decided which information it must process and take note of. Shutter in a camera does the same thing but the in case of camera, film or camera does not have choice of deciding what information to process but in our case brain has the power of making a decision. I will explain with an example – You send someone to bring something say your wallet kept at a table in another room and the person return empty handed saying that he or she could not find it. You then ask him to go and see properly as the wallet is very much on the table; person searches again and sure enough he finds it. What was the difference? In first instance his eyes had seen the wallet and yet his brain had not noticed it.
The real issue is not about the function of eyes but the issue is about the function of the brain. Does brain has power to decide what it must focus on? if it has then I am what my brain is but I think that brain is only a machine and mechanically all brains react in same manner to same information. When we ask this question then science enters the domain of philosophy because the real question is ‘who am I?’ My brain does not decide what it must think, it is I who decide what I must think. I have the greatest machine at my disposal but it is up to me to decide how I must use this machine.
Science must answer this question and once science recognizes the importance of this question then there will no longer be any distinction between philosophy, science, and religion.
I must admit here that my knowledge of anatomy and physiology of brain is very limited and we often make the mistake of seeing what we want to see and hearing what we want to here and therefore I may be wrong in my assessment that brain is only a machine but I am sure that medical science has not been able to identify what distinguishes one brain from another. You will be surprised to know that neuron-synapse arrangement in brain is same in case of all living beings and not just all human beings. Moreover, there are numerous actions that are not controlled by brain.
The answers to most difficult questions in medical science rests with physics. At macro as well as at micro level, all sciences must merge with physics. It is only in between micro and macro that other sciences can exist. Problem is that physics finds that different sets of laws seem to govern micro and macro and once this problem is resolved then most of the problems in all sciences will be resolved.
As far as wave-particle duality is concerned, all I can say to a layman is that it is one of the biggest absurdities of physics. I will not go beyond this because I cannot answer your next question – How can something be wave as well as particle because wave and particle are mutually exclusive phenomenon.
Thanks
Sunil

Hi Sunil,
That was very good information. Thank you so much. That illustration with the wallet was great. I told my maid the other day to look for a particular towell because I could not find it. She found it in a matter of seconds. I did look where she looked. But I could not figure it out. Because you did now I understand. The brain was a bit slow. Everything in life has an answer even when we do not understand. You are awesome!! Keep up the good works.
