    • Why I love Cambridge: random factoids

I recently received my 2008 Cambridge visitor parking permit in the mail and along with it came a little booklet talking about parking policies and procedures in this great city. I’m not sure what compelled me to actually read it, but I did. On the back page were some interesting facts:

      • 25 percent of Cambridge residents walk to work—this is the highest in the country (I walked to work for about 2 years until I moved further up the Red Line. I miss those walks.)
      • bicycle traffic has grown by 70 percent over the past five years (I’m too scared to bike the streets of Cambridge/Boston.)

      Here’s my favorite:

      • 75 percent of vehicles in Cambridge travel at 30 mph or less!

I suspect that the first and second factoids have something to do with the third.
