    • Where is NPG headed with Web 2.0?

      Thursday, 05 Jul 2007 - 15:39 GMT

We at NPG have been busy putting out lots of new websites in the last little while (Scintilla, Nature Precedings, Nature Reports Stem Cells and NR Climate Change, not to mention slightly older ones like Connotea and all the blogs and podcasts we have) and so you might be wondering: where is NPG headed with all these new online products that seem so different from traditional peer reviewed journals?

You can get a better idea, straight from the the guy who’s steering the ship on these matters, Timo Hannay, head of web publishing at NPG (disclaimer: my boss). Here’s an article he’s written and an interview with him. In the interview, he talks a bit about his thoughts on integrating some of these websites, and the future of scientific publishing and peer review.

Alex at the Daily Transcript has a good collection of links about the future of scientific publishing and raises some good points that need to be considered for new models of online publishing to be successful.
