Here are the two latest products from Nature Publishing Group’s Web Publishing department (the same one that brought you Nature Network).
Nature Precedings is a website where you can upload pre-publication documents: slides, white papers, unpublished manuscripts, etc. Users can download the documents, vote and comment on them.
Scintilla is a website you can customize to display the latest content from your favorite news sources, science blogs, journals.
Check these out and let us (Nature Network) know if there are any features on these two websites that you’d like to see on NN.
Addendum: here’s the press releasereleases/Natureprecedingspr.pdf with more details about Nature Precedings. They are looking for people to upload manuscripts and other content._
Great idea and implementation, I really like the Nature Precedings site.
The scientific community has needed a site like this for quite some time now (particularly the biological sciences), where scientists can share early results, discuss recent advancements or ideas, and share results that are important but not yet at a stage for typical publication. This site will also facilitate the archiving of data, beyond traditional publications, and speed the process of data sharing among individuals due to the quick publication time.
I believe the Nature Precedings site will be a great asset to the scientific community in the coming years.
I also like the open comment sections, where others can share their critique of the paper, presentation, or other. This sort of “mass peer-review” helps break down the wall between authors and readers, and helps engage the reader in a clever and constructive way.
Glad you like NP Michael. If you (or anyone else) want to engage in discussions about the prose and cons of Nature Precedings, you can join the NP group on Nature Network and have your say.
