    • Social networking for scientists-in the news

The media are starting to buzz about the Web 2.0 websites for scientists. Nature’s been writing about this trend for a while now, but now The Scientist has just come out with a piece focused mainly on the use of LinkedIn in the biotech industry (incidentally, I was interviewed about Nature Network for this story). And I’m scheduled to speak with another journalist (writing for a major national monthly science magazine) later this week about Nature Network. So stay tuned!

LinkedIn, in my opinion, is more oriented towards business/biotech…not much science presence there. I can see why The Scientist focused on LinkedIn…there are some good examples of the benefits of online networking in biotech. Academic science may be a bit behind, but is catching up! Are there any good examples we can point to of the benefits of online networking for academic scientists?
