Description

Sustained research efforts over the last few decades have resulted in nanoparticle-based systems that have increasing importance in clinical applications that range from diagnostics to therapeutics. Advances in the fabrication and characterization of these particles have ensured their greater availability for both basic and applied research; tailoring their size, composition, and surface properties has allowed researchers to utilize these nanoparticles for a wide range of uses in medicine.
This ET Seminar will focus on applications in three key areas of research: diagnostic, imaging, and therapeutic uses of nanoscale particles. The speakers include experts in the fabrication, characterization and clinical use of medically-relevant nanoparticle applications. The research topics will cover work on polymer nanoparticles, metal oxide nanoparticles, and liposomes. Discussion will also include challenges and strategies for translating basic research findings to the clinic.
