Additional information

The remarkable properties of carbon nanotubes will be briefly reviewed. Partiular emphasis will be given to the fact that these one-dimensional structures can be either semiconducting or metallic depending on their geometry. There remarkable properties suggest a variety of potential applications for carbon nanotubes. The ability to measure the electronic and vibrational structure of a single nanotube is discussed with emphasis given the research directions this advance allows us to pursue.
