How messed up is our government right now? Consider the fact that through many layers of bureaucracy, certain departments get away with completely ignoring what other departments order them to do. There have been, of course, many well-documented examples of this type of behavior coming out of the White House recently. Here’s another similar example, this time regarding science (sort of): despite strict orders from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Defense refuses to clean up after itself (see this Washington Post article).

If the Department of Energy and NASA can follow orders, why not the Pentagon?
