My first post:
I ams Professor of Plant Pathology and Chair of the Plant Genomics Program at the University of California, Davis, where I study the role that genes play in a plant’s response to its environment. Most of my research is focused on plant innate immunity and tolerance to stresses. I also serve as Director of Grass Genetics at the Joint Bioenergy Institute. My laboratory at JBEI is using rice as a model to understand cell wall structure and function in promising bioenergy crops such as switchgrass.
Recently I have also started writing for more general audiences on genetic engineering, food and farming. My first book, written with my husband, an organic farmer is called:
Tomorrow’s Table: Organic farming, Genetics and the Future of Food
I also recently wrote an opinion piece for the Boston Globe on this subject.
Hello Pamela
Welcome to the party ;)
Welcome in!
Welcome to Nature Network, Pamela!
Welcome, from a lapsed cereal pathologist!
“lapsed cereal pathologist” – brilliant!
Welcome from a former food scientist!
Hi Pamela, I am greatly looking forward to hearing your thoughts, and welcome to the group!
Let me also add that I had read your Boston Globe piece with some interest when it appeared and really enjoyed it.
