In a related question, have any of my fellow cell culturists noticed that mammalian cells actually have a distinctive odor? It’s not entirely pleasant; vaguely flesh-like. At first I assumed this smell was the medium, but if you do the sniff test with appropriate controls, it’s definitely the cells that are emitting said scent.
(Please tell me I am not sad.)
