Excuse me while I play the proud parent for a minute.

Not to be outdone by their father’s success (that, in case it wasn’t clear, talks about a paper I’ve just had accepted), the Pawns have been up for end of year (it’s Australia; we Do Things Differently here) awards at school.

The Elder Pawn (end of Year 5) was awarded an academic award for ‘Overall Excellence in English’, and the word on the street is that if the students at that school were not limited to one award each, she’d also have scored the OE in Music one. The Younger Pawn (end of year 2, i.e. 8 years old) got the ‘Overall Excellence in Science and Technology’ award. They both get nice certificates.

How’s that for a well-balanced family? We’re well chuffed with them.

I salute you. And yours. Nothing quite like parental pride…. it almost makes up for the late nights. And the expense… :)

What does a pawn have to do to ace science and technology these days? Clone a hamster?

That’s for both of them. And their highly talented and devoted parents, of course (!).
