In a recent article published in Trends in Ecology & Evolution, The roles, reasons and restrictions of science blogs, Prof. Wilkins calls upon scientists to enter the ‘blogosphere’ because ‘unlike
laws and sausages, the public should see science during its manufacture’.
Fair enough, but in his box ‘How to start a blog?’ (and throughout the rest of the manuscript), the author forgets to mention the excellent science blogging platform known as Nature Network. How about sending him some NN merchandise, Matt?

Good idea, Raf! Wilkins’ account of science blogging did seem rather ScienceBlog-heavy. I did love the “law and sausages” line. Overall, Wilkins did a really great job of presenting the pros and cons of science blogging. Thanks for posting about it.
Oh, people at the coffee table dared me to use the word “sausages” in my next presentation at a conference. And I accepted the challenge.
It seems people want more sausages in science.
Good point, Raf. Words will have to be had. I know John does occasionally surface here.

Professor Wilkins? Do you know something I don’t? Please tell me…
I’m open to all kinds of bribery and corruption, but that graft has sailed.
So how much did Seed Magazine pay you to advertise them?
