What a great thing that networking is. After the summer of 2006, a friend introduced me to Flickr, and my experience with social websites began. There I met another person who introduced me to Nature Network, where I networked further, though this time it was in Science. Starting from this portal, I have e-met many other bloggers, and Science in the Bel Paese ended up on Nature twice, was featured on an Italian radio, and it’s about to appear (this very Wednesday) on one of the Italian leading daily newspapers, in its Tutto Scienze weekly section.
And then, a new, exciting offer came up over the last few days. Starting next weekend, I will be maintaining the blog column for the online scientific journal Galileo. The target of this 12-year old online daily ‘paper’ is scientists as well as the general public. That will be good to practice science communication skills.
I was asked to provide a name for the new blog, but I have not decided yet. Any thoughts?
And of course… thank you all for your comments to date!
Hi Massimo,
That’s great news, congratulations!
About the title, I guess it would be easier if we new what specific topics will you be covering. Will it be like your blog in NN?
Hi David, thank you! I have just finished watching Italy getting hammered by the Netherlands at the Euro 2008 soccer championships. Mmmmm.
The blog on Galileonet.it will cover a variety of topics on Italian and International science. Galileo is a newspaper: they would like to add an extra opinion from someone who is directly involved with experimentation.
But I will definitely not drop this Bel Paese blog. The main scope of this blog is to open a window to foreigners on the Italian science scenario. Plus, NN is a network, and there’s tons to be learned from its participants.
Tell it to Hans!
