      Hi All,

There were many times I encountered something interesting, controversial, wacky, stimulating, discussion inducing and wanting to write about it. So I requested a blog, and Nature Network graciously granted the request, and hence you find yourself reading this.

About me, I am originally from India, did an undergraduate in Engineering Physics and arrived in US intending to pursue a PhD in Computational Physics. During the course of my PhD I became fascinated by the application of Physics and tools developed in Physics to the more complex systems encountered in Biology.

I recently finished my PhD in Physics (jointly with Biomedical Informatics) and am hunting for industry or academic positions in Bioinformatics or related fields. Most of my recent work has been in developing algorithms and tools for genome wide genotype-phenotype correlations using phylogenetic trees. Data visualization and data mining also interest me.

On the personal side, I like to observe and understand human behavior and motivations. I particularly enjoy immersing myself in different subcultures to learn about them and being in the US presents a lot of opportunities for that. I like solving puzzles, especially crosswords.

This blog is likely to be about topics that meet the criteria I mentioned in the first paragraph. Things that catch my interest and I feel that they would be interesting to researchers.
