There is absolutely no sense in which this constitutes news, but it really is turning into “one of those weeks” where microsoft keeps apologizing to me in these little boxes. The fact that I compulsively send the error reports adds another 5 seconds to each experience. I was uncertain whether there was any point to doing this, really, until my husband directed me to this video:
(you will need sound)
It’s rather old, but I had never seen it before and maybe it is new to you too.
My solution – bin Internet Explorer and install Mozilla Firefox instead.
Henry, you beat me to it but you are right…
Bronwen,
Neat video =)
I stopped using IE quite some time ago and switched instead to Open Source Mozilla’s Firefox
As of last Nov, 125,000,000
did the same.
‘Go on, you know it makes sense’ as they say.
If it does crash (very rare), you are prompted to either (in browser terms) restore to where you left off or start again.
Funnily, I almost always use firefox and agree that it is superior in almost every way.
There are only two problems with it:
1. On a “slow computer” or when you find yourself needing to open a lot of windows or tabs, you can definitely tell that it is slower than IE and sometimes this is annoying.
2. There are some webpages that just simply don’t seem to work on it (e.g. the rap site that we use to access our work emails at home…).
Firefox has some really nifty add-ons.
Great discussion already,
Here’s some more Firefox tidbits
Bob, I am laughing. I am not sure exactly what type of add-on I was expecting when I clicked on that link…
Once upon a time I was also a cricket fan, but unfortunately was not able to watch again after this game. I hardly spoke for a day afterwards.
Graham: Thanks for the link to Glyn Moody’s blog. I think that I should give thunderbird a try. I have quite a nice photo of a real thunderbird somewhere… Its a good name if the application is fast!
Bronwen – I use the rap site fine from home using Firefox. It is possible.
Good-oh… Will give it another go, then. Perhaps I give up too quickly…
I really like the Adblock add-on . By blocking banners and other advertisement it speeds up page loading.
Actually Bron, I only use Firefox for rap e-mails at home – they don’t come up properly for me using Internet Explorer!
