You remember last year when I did that thing where I wrote a post a day for a week??
Well, after reading Martin Fenner’s latest blog post, I thought that I might sign up for the Just Science 2008 challenge and try to write a scientific post every day for the next week.
As those of you who routinely read this blog know, I actually do not blog very much about science at all so I think it might be quite an interesting exercise for me. Perhaps I could write about things that are on my CV (or were on my CV in the past, but no longer fit).
1. The honours project on bark regeneration.
2. The MSc in natural product chemistry.
3. Something interesting from working at the Forensic Science Lab.
4. The PhD doing radiolabeling etc for PET imaging of cell death.
5. The post-doc radiolabelling gastrin analogs.
That would be five. The results are obviously hardly new, but there are the odd things that might still be of general interest and maybe I could tie them up with some of the protocols that we have published.
Of course getting hold of the information for some of these is going to be more difficult than for others, but I have just found a pencil-case full of slides for a presentation that I did on the bark regeneration stuff (1995!!) and have taken them along to Jessops to see what they can do about getting them onto a CD for me… These will only be ready on wednesday.
I have also found a box of floppy discs that contain two that are labeled: “ICP results Aug 99” and “Affidavits and letters” dating from the FSL days. I wonder what I could get away with posting. :)
I am (obviously) not going to do this series “in order” – hopefully you won’t mind.

I love rediscovering stuff like that (though fear that my floppys have nothing quite so interesting or legitimate on them) in my things. Hoarders of the world, unite!
Bronwen,
you are better prepared for Just Science than me – I will decide the first topic tomorrow. BTW, the list of participating blogs can be found here.
Cool! I think I’m up for it. Thanks for spreading the word.
Scott: In the process of digging up stuff for these blog posts, I have been amazed both at what I kept and what seems to be irretrievably lost! I have not kept any files or hard copies relating to my MSc (my Dad may still have a copy of the thesis somewhere), for example. It is like I wanted to erase this from my memory. But, yet I have slides from an honours project that was never published. I guess I just had more fun during my undergraduate years; or maybe the slides were easier to transport around the world.
Martin and Nicholas: I am looking forward to seeing what you have to say! This should be fun!
