    • Police crackdown on UFOs?

      Saturday, 21 Jun 2008 - 14:59 UTC

You will all be pleased to know that UFOs get the same attention from the South Wales police as everyone else. Mind you, exactly how much attention they get depends on which news source you believe.

According to the BBC a police helicopter spotted a UFO, but they did not give chase and didn’t even describe the UFO. A police spokesperson commented In today’s skies, there are a wide variety of aircrafts which come in a range of different shapes and sizes and in all probability, this sighting has just confirmed that one of these was in the area at the relevant time. (Creative punctuation and grammar retained from original.) Now there’s boring.

The MOD chipped in with the gnomic remark … it is certainly not advisable for police helicopters to go chasing what they think are UFOs.

However, the Register has a totally different version of events with the police chopper pursuing a saucer-shaped craft ‘as far as North Devon.’ That’s more like it. But even so, they gave up.

More to the point, where are speed cameras when they could be useful? The South Wales Police has cut down all and any remaining trees and replaced them with speed cameras. I’m convinced that’s how the Welsh Assembly is financed.

I went looking for that old story about a police speed gun locking onto, and almost triggering a missile launch from, a fighter jet. Sadly, it’s false.
