What’s your crime fiction like? I’ve read Jan Costin Wagner who set his book in Finland but he’s German. (He lives in Finland part of the year, apparently, because his wife is Finnish.)
Are there other good authors?

I don’t know – it’s all written in Finnish! The Guardian had a page on Finnish literature a couple of years back, but I can’t find it. They asked readers to suggest good Finnish books (in English). Some books do get translated, but no doubt not enough.
Actually, the first recorded Finn in history was so recorded because he murdered and Englishman (Bishop Henry). But they worked out that Bishop Henry was English because he is described as coming from “the land of the cabbage eaters”.
Agreed that “cabbage eaters” is hardly likely to tempt anyone to join an English hub.
I have to say that crime fiction quality is not something I’ve ever considered when rating a city (and its hubs). Although a Hel-Hub would admittedly be pretty cool.
As long as the only crime is fiction, it’s good.
