Welcome to my new blog!
I am setting up a blog where I can write on how scientists with different ethnic, cultural and educational backgrounds interact. I would like think I am in a good position to do so because
1) I am Japanese but working in Cambridge (UK),
2) I am a medical doctor but working at Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics
3) I am an academic but work with private companies.
To spice up my blog, I may also write on not-so-academic topics and I hope you tolerate them as long as they are fun to read!
Kojiro
Welcome to the Network Kojiro. Looking forward to hearing about your experiences.
As a British researcher (now a science publisher) who used to work in Japan, I’m really interested to hear about your experiences in the UK. I’m also interested in the general issue of how science, which I see as the archetypal global human endeavour, can overcome barriers of geography, language and culture. The web definitely helps with the geographical challenge, but not so much with the linguistic and cultural ones. I think this is a particular issue in Asia; I recently participated in a Nature conference in Tokyo called Asia-Pacific Networks where some of these issues were debated.
For now, Nature Network へようこそ!
Hi Kojiro,
Seems you have an interesting background. I am from condensed matter physics but work mainly in bioinformatics related things now. Would like to hear more about how you transitioned from Medicine to Applied Math/Physics. It seems the other way around is a lot more common.
Amazing background. I am a MBA but for last 20 years I have been actively doing research in fundamental physics.
Would love to know from a Doctor whether etiology of all diseases can be reduced to just one factor?
