How exciting! My very first science blog. The main reason I decided to write this is selfish—I just need to get a few things off my chest. The other reason I am writing this is to share my stories of graduate school struggles and triumphs. I am starting my 5th year of a PhD in Immunology, so I have had plenty of time to generate numerous opinions about the adequacy of of graduate studies in this country.

Personally, I have no idea where I will be in 5 or 10 years, or even where I want to be at that point. I assume that I will be finished with grad school. After that, who knows. The good news is there are so many careers out there for young scientists to pick from that I really can’t decide. The bad news is I don’t have much time to decide….

Besides discussing graduate student life, from time to time, I will contemplate breaking science stories that hit a nerve or are just too incredible to go unmentioned.
