In my previous post I suggested someone should make a parody rap song using the phrase “da hood” to mean “fume hood” or “tissue culture hood”.

I have another, simpler, idea. This one was actually so obvious to me that I was sure it had already been done, but Googling gave me nothing:
Rewrite the lyrics of David Bowie’s song Five Years to be about five years of research funding or (even easier) five years of graduate school. You can leave big chunks of the lyrics intact! The song already contains “my brain hurts a lot” and “a girl my age went off her head” and “I had to cram so many things”

If nobody does this, I’ll do it myself at some point.
