I was invited to blog on Nature Network, and as you can see I accepted the invitation. I already saw a few familiar names in the current list of blogs, so I know I’m in good company.
I have a blog at easternblot.net about the overlap between science and art or science and daily life. I intended it to be aimed at both non-scientists interested in science, and scientists interested in art. (It’s explained a bit better here ).
I’ll start out here by cross-posting a bit, but eventually I’ll probably put the posts that are geared more towards the scientific community over here.
The blue erlenmeyer flask is a design I originally made for some buttons I’m selling, but later implemented in my site design and use as my online avatar. I don’t look like a flask of bromophenol blue — I look more like this:

(I guess that someone cared about mine, or I wouldn’t be here!)
When I’m not blogging I’m working on my PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Toronto . I moved here in 2002 from Amsterdam, where I did my masters in Chemistry and Pharmacochemistry at the Vrije Universiteit .
I’m entering what is hopefully my final year at UofT this fall, and I am still not sure what I’m doing afterwards. (I guess that’s how people usually end up doing postdocs?)
Welcome to Nature Network! Very glad you have started a blog here.
Loved the shirt. :D
