What's new: Get in contact with other Nature Network users

Thursday, 09 Aug 2007

You may have recently noticed a link on the top of certain users’ profile pages allowing you to send a message to them. We’ve now made it possible to get in touch with (almost) any user of Nature Network!

If you click on the link, you’ll be able to fill out a form to send a message via email. Your own email address will be set as the reply-to address, meaning you can carry on your conversation outside Nature Network. We’ve kept things deliberately simple – there’s nothing more annoying than having to constantly log into social networks to check for messages from your friends and contacts!

You’ll note we’ve said almost any user. For obvious privacy reasons, you have to opt in to use this service. By default, this feature is disabled for all users. You can let people send you messages by editing your profile and ticking the box by ‘Yes, allow other members of Nature Network to send me messages’. Even if you opt in for personal email contact, people contacting you will not be able to see your email address, unless you reply.

We know this has been a much-requested piece of functionality, so we hope you find it useful. If you run into any issues, don’t hesitate to let us know in the What’s Wrong forum.
